A solid alternative to wallpaper engine, the editor is a bit easier to use on this one and both use very little resources, I can recommend either but wallpaper engine has much more workshop content.

Has anyone managed to get OpenGL ES 2.0 working in a live wallpaper? I have a class that uses OpenGL ES 2.0 and runs fine as a Renderer for a GLSurfaceView. However, I want it to function as a live wallpaper. I found Robert Green's GLWallpaperService, but that is based on an older version of GLSurfaceView and does not support setEGLContextClientVersion, which is needed to run OpenGL ES 2.0.
I've managed to get an opengl-based LWP working by extending GLSurfaceView and then wrapping that in a wallpaper service. I haven't specifically tested if opengl es 2.0 works with this method, but I see no reason it wouldn't.

Is there a better way to handle switching between implementations? How would you do it? Also, what would you do to continue animating the wallpaper even when the settings screen is displayed on top? Maybe when the settings screen appears you can grab a reference to the wallpaper and manually call its onVisibilityChanged()? You could also check for isPreview() directly in onVisibilityChanged(), but that will lead to problems when you exit the preview window.
When I go to the preview window to change my settings, it comes up as a black screen, and when when I go back to home and see the wallpaper, it is all messed up like if there are multiple renderers over top of each other. I found that when you go to the preview window, it creates a new renderer each time. I they are overlapping. Is there a way to delete the previous renderer, or do I likely have a different problem.
