Thesearch isn't working for me. I despise the JB and '59 combo in my Charvel Style 2. Thinking of trying a Tone Zone + Air Norton. I just need to know which type I need to get for my guitar. Does F-Space refer to having a Floyd Rose or do I have to get the regular?
f-space refers to Fender. I am almost positive the pickups on a Charvel are F-spaced, I should know because I have a wildcard, but i will have to go check. I believe the pickup combo in the so-cals is a tone zone and an evo, not sure if they are trembuckers or standard dimarzios though.
Edit- As I googled "F-spaced" pickups, it turns out there is alot of conflicting info on F-Space pickups. According to Dimarzio's website via another forum, both Fenders and Floyd equipped guitars have a wider string spacing at the bridge. So it's F for Fender or Floyd, whichever you choose, but the practical point of all this is that you definitely want the ToneZone in F-spacing, it may not matter for that neck pickup.
I feel like growing up with over distorted SS and later using compressed digital amps it didn't matter where the pole pieces lay, it all got squashed into the same volume, but on a dynamic, sensitive tube amp I hear the dropoff if strings and magnets aren't aligned.
The "F" is commonly thought of as both Fender AND Floyd Rose equipped guitars, but it's not that simple. Even some of the newer Gibson or Gibson style guitars have wider string spacing where an F spaced would be a better match.
