Does your app-pool user have write access to the App_Data-folder?

I have the same error message. Which principal do I need to give write access to App_Data to resolve this problem?

If you're running the website through IIS the application pool identity is usually IIS AppPool\<AppPoolName>

I gave IIS AppPool\DefaultAppPool full control but still get App_Data\SearchIndex\KalikoCMS\' does not exist. I have uninstalled search as don't really need it for this project, I was just going to have a play.
