Hi,
My goal is to create an HCL which I can use with an existing HCLG.

It seems if I use fstcomposecontext then the ilabels won't match those of the HCLG. So I want to use fstmakecontextfst, but that requires passing a "subsequential-symbol", which I don't know.

And when if I modify mkgraph to use --binary=false for fstcomposecontext then the ilabels still get written out in binary form?

Not sure how to proceed.

You can just use any unused symbol-id (w.r.t. phones.txt).
Traditionally it's called $.
However what you propose may blow up due to word-position-dependency creating too many combinations.
I'm not quite sure what it is you plan to do; there might be a better way to do it.
