Query on converting phoneme lattice to word lattice

Dear all,

I am Pradeep and have been working on understanding and modifying the lattices. At the decoding stage, I have generated the lattice (using gmm-latgen-faster) and visualized the same using utils/show-lattice.sh. A part of the word lattice is attached. Please find the attachment ‘ExampleWordLattice.png.’

In order to extract the corresponding phoneme lattice, I used ‘lattice-to-phone-lattice’ by passing appropriate arguments and visualized the same. A part of the word lattice is attached. Please find the attachment ‘ExamplePhonemeLattice.png.’

I have some queries:

1. The phoneme lattice shows the acoustic cost corresponding to particular word. Can the acoustic cost be visualized on every arc that outputs a phone?

2. Is there a provision that I can convert back phoneme-lattice to word lattice?

In general (and this relates to the lattice determinization) the acoustic costs can only be trusted if you sum them on a path from the beginning to the end of the lattice.  They may get pushed around within those sequences.

Even if this were not the case and you were to somehow visualize the costs per phone arc, they would not look meaningful.

 

2. Is there a provision that I can convert back phoneme-lattice to word lattice?

Not really, because information is lost.
