how to select an android app to record audio

hello everyone,

there are lots of record app on Google Play, I want download one to record audio for ASR training, how can i chose one. Does different recording formats have much effect on ASR training and  Which recording format is best used?

I just use whatsapp.
The format doesn't matter, what matters is the encoder(FLAC, PCM, MP4, etc).  The one choose to collect data for training must be the same one used to collect data for decoding. 

Stick with FLAC or PCM and you will be fine.

Just for the record -- encoder mismatch should only matter if there is quite heavy compression.

Hi, I just use Whatsapp for recording. 

The key is try to record with minimal encoding. But, also, record in the environment that you gona use the ASR. For environment, means: Place, Mic, encoding, noise. etc. The software used is irrelevant.  

Save your audio as wav, pcm 16bits and you will be fine.
