Background: I am working on an ambilight implementation and if the night light mode is enabled, the color shift is not reflected in the LEDs around my screen and so the colors are off between screen content and 'around screen'.
Love the look and extra functanality of the Chime pro Gen 2 but would love the ability to schedual the time of the LED light comes on and off and or the ability to adjust the ambient light sensitivity as my chime pro is located in our internal hallway but the light will come on during the day when the hall is still well lit.
Currently the very bright night light on the new chime cannot be dimmed or switched off, it is lighting up my entire hall way at night and most of the staircase, desperately need an option to turn it off please
A nightlight is a small light fixture, usually electrical, placed for comfort or convenience in dark areas or areas that may become dark at certain times, such as at night or during an emergency. Small long-burning candles serving a similar function are referred to as "tealights".
People usually use nightlights for the sense of security which having a light on provides, or to relieve fear of the dark, especially in young children. Nightlights are also useful to the general public by revealing the general layout of a room without requiring a major light to be switched on, for avoiding tripping over stairs, obstacles, or pets, or to mark an emergency exit. Exit signs often use tritium radioluminescence. Homeowners usually place nightlights in bathrooms, kitchens and hallways to avoid turning on the main light fixture, especially late at night, and causing their eyes to adjust to the brighter light.[1]
Some frequent travelers carry small nightlights for temporary installation in their guestroom and bathroom, to avoid tripping or falls in an unfamiliar nighttime environment. Gerontologists have recommended use of nightlights to help prevent falls, which can often be life-threatening to the elderly.[2]
The low cost of nightlights has enabled a proliferation of different decorative designs, some featuring superheros and fantastical designs, while others feature the basic simplicity of a small luminous disc.
Early electrical nightlights used small incandescent lamps or small neon lamps to provide light, and were much safer than small candles using an open flame. The neon versions consumed very little energy and had a long life, but had a tendency to flicker on and off (reminiscent of a candle), which some users liked and others found annoying. In the 1960s, small nightlights appeared that featured a low-power electroluminescent panel emitting soft green or blue light; similar lights are still available today.[4]
Some nightlights include a photocell, which enables them to switch off when the ambient light is sufficiently bright. Other designs also feature a built-in passive infrared sensor to detect motion, and only switch on when somebody is passing by in the dark. With the availability of low-cost LEDs, many different variants have become available, featuring different colours, sometimes changing automatically or in a user-controllable way.
The US Consumer Product Safety Commission, or UCPSC, reports it receives about 10 reports per year where nightlights close to flammable materials were cited as responsible for fires; they recommend the use of nightlights with LED bulbs cooler than the four or seven watt incandescent light bulbs still used in some older products.[5]
A University of Pennsylvania study indicated that sleeping with the light on or with a nightlight was associated with a greater incidence of nearsightedness in children.[6] However, a later study at Ohio State University contradicted the earlier conclusion.[7] Both studies were published in the journal Nature.
Another study has indicated that sleeping with the light on may protect the eyes of diabetics from retinopathy, a condition that can lead to blindness.[8] However, the initial study is still inconclusive.
The optimal sleeping light condition is said by some to be total darkness.[9] If a nightlight is used within a sleeping area, it is recommended to choose a dim reddish or amber light to minimize disruptive effects on sleep cycles.[10][1] In addition, nightlights may be useful in locations other than sleeping areas, such as hallways, bathrooms, or kitchens, to allow late night trips to be made without turning on the full light, while preserving a dark sleeping environment.[2]
The best way to achieve a night mode would be to put in some preset colors for multiple themes. Common ones would be light (which is current standard), dark (which inverts colors), and an intermediate gray theme (ex. TextColor = #ffffff , BackgroundColor = #6e6e6e). This is just an opinion. An additional option would be to add a Custom where the user could input the hex values for desired colors. If someone were to put in bad color values so that nothing was visible, then they could reinstall or alter the Advanced Settings file.
Just to show the issue here are inversed files in the same 50/50 colour range session so note how the darker background shown on first page and bookmarks is inverted compared to the 50% washed out page which is easier to see in more natural tones in the dark and you could add some warm red to that page (NO unhealthy BLUE LIGHT at NIGHT)
For your needs a similar issue was discussed on GitHub where I suggested running Find and replace text which should work in the background as you browse
see Feed in the settings file as a command line argument Issue #1027 sumatrapdfreader/sumatrapdf GitHub
The producers used a cinéma vérité (documentary-style) filming technique. Three cameras were used for each shoot and entire scenes were shot in one take. In contrast, most productions film a scene from each angle and typically repeat the scene several times while readjusting lighting to accommodate each shot. The first takes usually made the final cut. By filming a scene all at once, the producers tried to create an environment for the actors that was more organic and allowed for the best performances.[20]
Two soundtracks with music featured on the show were released. The first, Friday Night Lights, was released in 2007, and included music from The Killers, OutKast, and Explosions in the Sky, who had produced the score for the film. The second soundtrack, Friday Night Lights Vol. 2, was released in 2010, and included the main "Friday Night Lights Theme" by W. G. Walden. The score for both the film and television show, along with all background music and all instrumental music is performed by Explosions in the Sky.
On: The light will always be on.Off: The light will be turned off and the paired network will be reset.Auto: Light will automatically turn on and both the dusk-to-dawn sensor and motion sensors are on.

To save the eyes at night, adding more red and/or subtracting blue, is becoming popular in Windows 10 (blue-light filter) and Linux; Gnome Desktop (Night Light) and Ubuntu Unity Desktop with add-ons such as Red Shift or f.lux.
Floating decimal points will be helpful because the script I want to upgrade sets xbacklight brightness slowly once a minute over a 90 to 120 minute transition period at dawn and dusk. I want to enhance the script with both xrandr --brightness software support for external monitors and OLED built in displays and xrandr --gamma support for red light / blue light filters. Xorg doesn't say how many decimal positions are supported but I think I think I will set bc calculations should be to 3 or 4 decimal positions for readability / precision balance.
The script reduces blue light component and brightness of all Xorg displays attached. Simply save it in your bin directory, chmod +x it and, if you want to, add a cron job or keyboard shortcut to call the function.
So, if you pick a band of visible light (red, green or blue, for example) then find where the curves intersect those bands and this gives you their proportions. (Note: the scale on the graph is logarithmic; the differences are much greater than they appear)
I think 5777K is our Sun (it is kind of white). Remember, this is just the raw emitted light, all kinds of atmospheric effects can bend or scatter or absorb light along the way at different times of day depending on the angle of the Sun, thickness of atmosphere, what chemicals are in the atmosphere, etc. Read this paper for more info on these phenomena: Variation of outdoor illumination as a function of solar elevation and light pollution.
Night mode, or dark mode, is a setting offered on many digital devices to decrease screen brightness and reduce eye strain in the process. Instead of featuring a predominantly white background with black text, the typical dark mode displays a black background with white or colored text or shifts lighter colors more toward pink and red instead of blue. The contrast and colors used in night mode reduce glare and help our eyes adjust more easily to surrounding light, leading to less eye strain and easier, comfortable reading.
If putting down your phone or computer one to two hours before bed and/or switching to night mode settings does not eliminate eye strain or problems sleeping, talk to an ophthalmologist to find out if any other conditions could be contributing.
