Request to KIF to make a response after the screening of Twelve Years a Slave

Hi, friends.

I received this request today via FaceBook:

"Would the Kalamazoo Interfaith Forum be interested and able, on such short notice, to cosponsor a post-film conversation after the 4:35pm Sunday Nov17 showing of "12 Years a Slave" at the new Alamo Drafthouse Cinema (180 Portage St). Call Alan Gamble 517-740-8363 or Tierra Marshall 616-322-6360 asap to discuss details. Cosponsorship would mean you'd lend your name for publicity and encourage members/friends to attend. No financial obligation other than a $7 movie ticket. Thanks!"

Not only is this a movie that I'd like to see, I think this could be a nice way to get involved in a community event outside of our regular meetings.The Alamo Cinema is the one that just moved into the old Rave theater, downtown. Let me know if any of you are able to make it and then I'll write back to Alan or Tierra.

Hi, everybody.

I won't be able to attend the Sunday movie screening myself. When I was at the Coexist@WMU meeting on Monday night a few people there said they 'might' be able to attend. I wrote back to Alan to let him know that besides Frank, there might be a couple of members from Coexist available for the post-film discussion.

I just got off of the phone with Alan Gamble. I am planning to attend the showing at 4:30 pm on Sunday. (I also like Maureen's K.I.F. discussion topic suggestion.) As I understand it Alan is also looking for organizational sponsorship, not donations. I would support K.I.F. agreeing to be a sponsor.
