Dear friends,

Yesterday, I checked with Rev. Liz Candido, the Chaplain at K College, about our scheduled meeting for this Sunday in Mandelle Hall, on K's campus. Our topic was going to be Religion & Science. However, Rev. Candido mentioned to me that at the same time that we'd be holding our meeting, next door, at Stetson Chapel, there would be a service in remembrance of victims of gun violence. This will be a Christian service, but all are welcome to attend. This is very timely given the recent news of even more gun violence in our country. In lieu of our regular meeting/discussion, I'd like to invite you to this event, which is sponsored by Kalamazoo Coalition for Common Ground and the Office for Religious and Spiritual Life at K College (flyer attached, also):

Almost three years to the day that 20 children and 6 adults were killed at Sandy Hook Elementary School, people of faith in Kalamazoo will gather for their 2nd Annual Offering of Letters service. Together, we will lament the lives taken too soon by gun violence, reaffirm God's call to be peacemakers, and take up an offering of letters to our representatives in congress, encouraging them to pass sensible reform.
Dr. Michael T. Scott of Galilee Baptist Church will be preaching.

Note: Letters will be written during the service. You need not bring anything but yourself! Depending on where the bill currently sits at the time, it's likely that our letters will specifically call on congress to support H.R. 3411. A summary can be found here: http://www.bradycampaign.org/hr-3411-fact-sheet

Date/Time/Location: Sunday Dec. 13, 2015, 4:00 PM @Stetson Chapel, Kalamazoo College, 1201 Academy St., Kalamazoo
