Topic: Death Penalty 

At the end of our March forum, we talked about having spring festivals or holidays as our next topic. However, Gurubhagti (Maureen) brought to my attention a forum on the death penalty that an Arizona interfaith group had earlier this week. This would be a new topic for us and perhaps a little 'juicier' than spring festivals. Please see the forwarded message below.

We will follow our usual format this Sunday: Each participant will give a 5 to 7 minute explanation of her or his perspective on the death penalty and a group discussion will follow.

You and your friends are invited to a Community Faith Forum, entitled  "The Death Penalty"    AN EYE FOR AN EYE: THE DEATH PENALTY - Is the death penalty a viable punishment according to your faith - or should the criminal's punishment be left to a "higher authority?" Does society have the right to "take a life" as a form of retribution? What does your faith say about crime and punishment in general? Join us as our panelists discuss this issue.    We are pleased to offer Community Faith Forums, monthly, through the school year, to discuss topics of the day together, listening and considering many different perspectives. It's a great way to learn, in a respectful manner, and have a sounder basis for your own viewpoints. We hope you will tell your friends and plan to join us, the 3rd Tuesday of the month, at lunch time.
