Rohit,

1) Let's bring the site down in the middle of Feb. It's good to have the Winner's page up until then.

2) We should definitely store all the pictures. It can be used by the marketing team.

Kannan, Can you please contact the marketing team and let them know that these photos can be used by Vibha, but the photo credits need to be mentioned.

Thanks,
Ashwini

Hi,

Are we planning on taking the website offline? If yes, when? What about the submissions? Do we want to store all of them?

Regards
Rohit

Why take it down? Leave it up year long, with a message that we will be back next year along with winning pics etc.. Its a nice web property to keep live..

Rohit, How much would it cost us to keep it alive?

The way we have it set up is not optimal for long term. If you want to keep it live forever, we need to get rid of the dynamic portions of the site and have static pages like an archive. Arvind, do we have non-aws resources for that?

Are we talking hundreds of dollars to keep it alive.. or is it thousands? Or is it just an IT maintenance issue?

About a 100 per month + IT maintenance. It is going to be a read only site at least till the next Kalakaar.

What are the objectives/benefits of keeping the site alive after a month?

I am not sure what constitutes as wildly popular. We are barely getting traffic on the website ( less than 1K requests a day and slowing down ). Anyway, I am not talking about the facebook page.
It doesn't make sense to host on AWS.

Arvind, can you host a static site, may be just the winners page?

What Rohit is proposing is just moving the infrastructure. The site will be down temporarily while we make this move.

Rohit, I will set up the server and we can work out the transition.

If the site is offline, what will people see when type www.kalakaar.org? I think we should keep it live. We can put a slide show of all the photos. Please don't worry about couple hundred dollars.

Yes as long as the website is up, that's good enough. Lets maintain a presence even if its on a cheaper/easier to maintain infrastructure.

Cheers
