Kalakaar - 2012: What a journey!

Kalakaar 2012 Team, 

We have successfully announced the winners of the Kalakaar 2012 photography contest (http://kalakaar.vibha.org/contest/winners)

I'm sure it's been a very interesting journey for all of us. We started planning for this event in August of 2012 and the contest ran from Oct 15th to Nov 15th, 2012. Chinmayi and Vivek were the reason for the revival of the Kalakaar event -- and what a great way to put it back on Vibha's map! A whopping 643 entries, 13,724 likes on thefacebook page and revenue close to $5000. 

We have survived unexpected events like naming frenzy, vision confusion and hurricane Sandy. The team was strong, supporting each other during these troubled times which kept us going, like Vivek's vision of mounting Kalakaar revenues, Meenal's sponsorship efforts, Kannan's poor jokes and his trust on Facebook, Rohit's commitment towards his baby (the website), Hetal's love for Facebook updates, Akshay and Parag's Pablo Picasso brains, Vaishali and Sumanth's dedication even during hurricane Sandy, Aruna's expertise on designing rules, Mukesh's vision of Kalakaar and Ashwini's expertise on arm-twisting :)

Everyone and everything came together - not like a complete jigsaw puzzle but more like pebbles in a glass vase - some gaps, some compromises, a few cracked ;), of different sizes and different shapes - together made a colorful foundation for placing the bouquet of success!

Kudos to the Kalakaar 2012 team for taking Kalakaar to the next level. I want to thank the judges, the sponsors, the national exec team and all the action centers for realizing the potential of a completely online event and for helping us make what Kalakaar is today. Special thanks to Arvind Menon, Rajesh Haridas, Vivienne Vidyasagar, Pankaj Bolaki, Balaji Rajam, Sreekanth Bhaskaran, Aditya Ghule and Vinita Sangtani.

Kalakaar Team,

YOU GUYS ROCK !!!!!

This is the perfect example of "if you can dream it you can do it".   When you have super motivated people on board,  you make things happen.  To be honest,  when you set your goals as 10,000 likes and 250 pictures I was quite doubtful  about one of the target.  We have been struggling to get past 2000 likes on Vibha Facebook and you guys managed to get 13,000 likes just like that.

Absolutely brilliant leadership.  You did a fantastic job  driving this team.  In spite of all the hurdles your team faced your spirits was always high.  It is worth noting that the team was spread all over the country and half way  across the globe.
