Dear friends,
please come and also ask friends interested in the topic to attend, community groups, workers, students all are welcome if inerested
Greetings from Nehru Memorial
NMML in partnership with Asian Education Society - is holding a two day long dialogue on the theme of-
Violence against Women- Domestic and Community emerging trends (
tentative title) on the 22nd and 23rd of March 2010. The aim of the
dialogue is to focus attention on the legal and social implications of
the Domestic Violence Act, with dowry as the back drop we also wish
to focus on three heinous practices – honour killing, witch hunt and
acid attacks- which are on the rise . Through this we hope to broaden
the discourse on domestic violence to include these aspects , violence
by extended families, caste groups, community .
The dialogue would include grassroot workers, women who have fought
for their own rights, lawyers, media as well as policy makers. The
dialogue would open venues to look at the historical and contemporary
issues pertaining to violence against women.
We would be most obliged if you / your team members from Mahila
Samakhya, Karnataka could share your
thoughts and experiences.We
would be soon drawing up the final schedule and would send them to
you.
We would be able to cover your travel and stay expenses.
Thanks,
Shweta Keshri,
NMML
