Is there a way to fill gaps cut off by the start of the query?

It would be ideal if I could get the last value before the start time of a query. At the moment I'm getting graphs that are cut off.

I see InfluxDB still has this problem with several people wanting a fix:

Let me make sure I have this right. You do a query from 7pm to 10pm but the data points within that time range start at 8pm and the previous data point is at say 6pm. So you want to see a line that would connect to the 6pm data point even though it isn't within the range of your query right?
