Combat tournaments are held all day Wednesday, with additional tournaments throughout the week, and give the knights a chance to compare their fighting performance with knights in other leagues. For each tournament, the participating knights fight their regular opponents, giving knights in all leagues a chance at the prize.

Each tournament consists of 25 fights and features a different challenge, such as winning (or losing) the most fights, doing the most damage, or landing the most hits. The challenge is announced at the start of the tournament. The entry fee is paid in diamonds, and varies for each tournament. These diamonds are then divided among the knights that claim the top three spots in the tournament.

The robotic tournament draws on students, faculty, staff, and professionals from Sandia Labs and other professional settings to volunteer as judges, according to Bin Lim, Ph.D., chair of the New Mexico Tech Department of Mechanical Engineering. Students competing in the tournament also receive a tour of the Mechanical Engineering Department, he said.

He also appears again in Combat Tournament Legends. He wields two rubber gloves as his way of offense and self-defense. Due to his gloves, he is thought to have been a veteran of combat tournaments.

These bots can do specials if you're at a lock-on distance away. These bots only have the three slaps and the shock slam attack and then follow up with the up combo or do the down aerial combo. They also do the follow up to the down combo and launch into the air. They don't stay in one spot. Ex: TonyTheCock and Balls.

Named because only the enemy bots in Attack 'N' Defend have these types of A.I. In Defend mode, they act somewhat like Follow bots, but are enhanced to do the shockwave clap, the up attack and do the multislap combo.

In Attacker mode, they only do the forward slap and multislap attacks when attacking crystals (also has the four slap combo when breaking down the breakable wall). They will also perform a special attack as soon as their special bar is full when attacking one as well.

Named because only the final boss named DennesTejada has this A.I. This A.I. is only present in the Final Fight on Hard Mode. This A.I. has the first three neutral slaps, but adds the up attack combo at the end of the third one. It also has the forward attack and multislap combos. This bot will even stop his combo midway if they miss the player at first.

By changing the name of the character sprite object for any Mr. Slaptastic CPU in a level frame, you can actually change their accessories, but there is a random chance for some characters that it might backfire and delete the A.I.'s code.

Mr. Slaptastic was implemented into the first released version of the Combat Tournament Rewind Demo. Presumably, he was the first character to be worked on, as the progress made with him is the most complete compared to everyone else. He is also the first opponent you see in the game, in the tutorial levels. The attacks that properly make a return to this game from the previous two games are Attack 1, Attack 2, Attack 3, Attack 5, Attack 6, Attack 7, Attack 8, Attack 9, Attack 11, and Attack 15.

Is there one in the final game like it was in the beta? I stumbled across many arenas, but none of them is functioning. I mean one I can come to, watch others fighting and bet some groschen on myself.

they went a bit over the top with these stretch goals

I think it was because they had only planned 300.000$ and when they realized its going to be much more they quickly came up with more stretch goals (only 100.000$ apart from eath other)

when they began working on the game they quickly realized that they couldnt do it it was just too ambitious.

In the end they chose to deliver them as DLC (free for backers)

They could leave the glorified tournament behind a DLC, that would be alright, but an option to spar with various fighters (perhaps for money, like archery contests) in an arena is to be expected without having to pay additional money and i look forward to seeing it.

yes but we all see the current state of the game

I agree its probably not too much effort but they just scrapped it all and focused on the main things, the last few months before release it was all about polishing and bugfixing and it took much more time than expected and ultimately they couldnt do it

Last I remember, blacksmithing was part of the core gameplay, they couldnt figure out how to implement it to be fun and was shafted as free DLC after release, not sure if it was part of the stretch goal.

@HalfOrcSteve more than $10 DLC for combat arena? meh, no thanks. $25 (or more) DLC that spawns groups of bandits and Cuman (incl mounted lancers/archers) that can attack towns/villages or something similar? buy it in a second

There are four different competitions that your daughter can participate in: the Combat Tournament, the Dance Party, the Art Festival or the Cooking Contest. Each of these presents an opportunity to test the skills she has learned.

"Compete for the championship in battles with other warriors. Here it will be decided who is the kingdom's best warrior. The contest is held tournament-style. The opponents are already selected by random drawing. The bulletin board listing the selections is at the coliseum's main entrance."

The Combat Tournament is a series of battles against several opponents. There are some fighters who show up only at the combat tournament, like the fighting rivals. You are awarded upto 300G for defeating opponents at each stage based on the fighter/magic reputation of you and your opponent(whichever is higher), and if you make it to the finals, your magic or fighter reputation is raised based on how much damage was inflicted using melee attacks or magic.

If you get either Anita or Wendy as rivals, they are always going to be your first opponent. This can make it considerably harder to win anything from the tournament, especially since both their abilities and stats scale with age, especially Anita since Wendy has lower HP. You and your opponent get nine chances to attack, after which the General will intervene and announce a winner based on their remaining hitpoints.

"The Art Festival is held by his Majesty the King in order to deepen his understanding of art. It has been a pathway to success for many up-and-coming artists from the kingdom and beyond. His Majesty the King is eager as always to view your entries."

Olive can enter a painting she has made to have it judged alongside many others. Commonly regarded as the easiest of the events, and is often recommended to aim to win this one early on in the game because of the prize money being a good resource towards her schooling.

The Art Festival is considered the easiest to win since unlike the other events, all it checks for is whether Olive drew a painting with high Art. The painting, "Advent of Angels" is almost always guaranteed to win (the exception being that if Olive painted "Advent of Angels" with an Art Score of 94 or less, there is still a very slight chance that Filkins may end up winning by 1-2 points --- if this is the case, reload), especially since she gets no rivals for the Art festival (and Patricia never wins the Art Contest even if she became Olive's rival), but Olive's self-portrait sometimes will do a good enough work. Furthermore, the Master Brushes are a convenient way of raising Social Reputation (and can be sold for extra gold without any penalties, unlike the Royal Sword), though you need to be careful to avoid getting an Artistic ending.

The Dance Party checks for Charisma and Art. Despite Constitution being shown during the performances, it doesn't influence the score. Olive needs to have dance wear to participate. The Minister of State judges this contest, and having high popularity with him gives you a big bonus.

Olive's Sensitivity and Cooking skill are used to judge how well she's cooked her dish. Both need to be at decent numbers (at VERY least around 90-100, preferably over 100), else her score drops hard. This can be done early by first making her work on her Cooking skill via Housework, then raising her Sensitivity with other methods (like babysitting).

The cooking contest is also recommended for an early win, since it costs no money to raise both cooking skill and Sensitivity and it's easy to raise both by Olive's 10th or 11th year. The prize is good for raising Constitution, which will let Olive fight longer and work harder.

@gogito: Not really tbh. Mikasa is outright superhuman, Annie may be a lot more skilled in hand-to-hand, but it's like a UFC fighter fighting a grizzly bear, the stats are just too much. Mikasa might have unshown skill too in hand to hand cause Ackerman paths stuff, since she's mastered everything else anyway.
