Superstars!
It's only a few short weeks until we'll all be together in Charlotte at the US Olympic Training Center. I want to congratulate all of you once again on your incredible work in getting this far. The Charlotte qualifiers have collectively raised nearly $160,000 in the last ten weeks of the campaign. It's an extraordinary achievement and we can't thank you enough for your dedication to the cause. We're looking forward to celebrating your success in a few weeks!
Many of you have been begging for details about the weekend, and while we're still finalizing the complete itinerary, I thought I should reach out and provide some general details.
THE GROUP
There are 18 participants from the Coast to Coast for Cancer run that are participating in the incentive weekend. In addition to our group of 18, we'll be joined about 10 participants from our recent trip to Nepal (who scheduled their reunion to coincide with our incentive weekend). It's a great group and should be a lot of fun.
SATURDAY
You should all have your flight itineraries now. If you have not received one, please let me know so that I can forward it along. Most of the group is arriving on Saturday around noon. A few arrive later on Saturday and one arrives Friday. We will meet each of you at the airport when you arrive and provide transportation to the hotel. The afternoon will be spent relaxing by the pool at the Marriott, hanging out with the rest of the team, or exploring "uptown" Charlotte during the "Speed Street" Festival. (Speed Street is a street party festival featuring live music, food, and other fun, and leads up to the commencement of the Coke 600 on Sunday.)
On Saturday evening, Above + Beyond is hosting a "comedy night" at a local pub in the historic district of Dilworth. Members of the Nepal trip are preparing 3-5 minute stand-up comedy routines about their experiences. If any of you would like to be included in the lineup, just let us know! We'll have dinner at the pub. Some of the group may choose to return to Speed Street for the evening musical performances, which includes U2 and Bruce Springsteen. (Just kidding the musical acts are Sister Hazel and Survivor.)
SUNDAY
Sunday will be spent at the US National Whitewater Center & Olympic Training Center. The morning will kick-off with an optional trail "race" at the training center. The race offers 5 and 8-mile versions on the trails surrounding the facility. We will also coordinate long runs for those that want to keep to their training routine (and skip the race), and we'll make pavement and trail runs available.
Following the morning run, we'll participate in a variety of fun events at the Center. We'll participate in a 2-3 hour whitewater rafting course and tackle the Center's class 3, 4, and 5 rapids. We'll also have an opportunity to enjoy bungee jumping, zip-lining, hiking, mountain biking, flatwater kayaking, and a dragon boat race! The Center has a locker room with showers, and we'll make the most of the opportunity to clean up as needed throughout the day.
We'll have a BBQ dinner at the Center and watch the sun set with a campfire and live band. As it is memorial day weekend, we are expecting a lot of excitement at the Center!

MONDAY
Due to the Holiday travel schedule, our group is departing throughout the day on Monday. For those that are scheduled on later flights, we'll have meals and activities throughout the day, and will make sure to get everyone safely back to the airport on time!
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact me!
