Hi again,

I have uploaded a PDF document that gives plans etc of various hanoks
in Kahoi-dong that were demolished as part of the Bukchon Plan.

These details come from Volume 2 of the plan which presented a
detailed architectural survey of the design and construction of a
large number of the original hanoks, and their condition. The survey
was published in 2001 but conducted in 2000 and maybe early 2001.

Included in the PDF are:

Kahoi-dong 31-34: Illegal demolition and raising of the ground level
Kahoi-dong 31-41: ditto
Kahoi-dong 31-30 ditto**
Kahoi-dong 31-40 Illegal Extension

** simultaneously with Kahoi-dong 31-29

Kahoi-dong 31-119:

Lee Myung-Bak lived here as a tenant during his election campaign and
before he moved to the Blue House. It was one of his many residences.
He was seldom there and the place seems mainly to have been used to
take campaign photos of Lee in traditional Korean clothes and in a
Hanok ambience. The former house was totally demolished but a number
of the old pillars were retained. There are also a few other new
hanoks
where some old pillars were retained. This development occurred after
we complained that Seoul City kept using the term "restoration" in
relation to new buildings "where not even a single pillar of the
former hanok was retained."

Kahoi-dong 31-32

The old hanok was demolished. The new hanok retained some of the old
pillars and elevated the ground level.

And - for good measure, I've included the similar details for our own
hanok, 31-79.

Plus a list of the officially registered hanoks at the time the plan
was published.
