The AK-PLV100GSJ comes with a 5.7K Super 35mm sensor and PL mount to produce cinematic video with bokeh effects. Combining the visual beauty of a cinema camera with the operability of a studio camera, the AK-PLV100GSJ achieves live video for events and sports with rich visual expression that grabs viewers attention.

Tokyo, Japan - Panasonic Connect Co., Ltd. today announced that it will release its new AK-PLV100GSJ 4K studio camera with a 5.7K Super 35 mm sensor and PL mount in the first quarter of CY2023.

Audiences have grown accustomed to high quality video content from their streaming platforms, and their expectations of sports broadcasts, local news segments and streamed worship services will only grow. The AK-PLV100GSJ studio camera will enter the market amid this proliferation of streaming to help production teams across industries make their content more exciting and engaging.

Panasonic Connect has been a pioneer of cine live technology and will bring this expertise to its AK studio camera lineup with the release of the AK-PLV100GSJ studio camera. It is equipped with a large format, super 35 mm Imager and PL Lens mount to accommodate cinema lenses for a shallow-depth look. The AK-PLV100GSJ is a fully-enabled system camera, and is compatible with the AK-HCU250 and AK-UCU600 camera control units, making it a companion to existing B4 mount camera systems. To capture cinematic video, simply swap the existing camera head with the AK-PLV100GSJ. The camera also leverages Panasonic's expertise IP-based live production. It outputs 12G-SDI signals from the camera head and can interface with return, control and other communications directly, or through ST 2110 when used without a CCU. With this combination of features, the AK-PLV100GSJ gives media and entertainment professionals flexibility & control, that doesn't sacrifice production quality.

To support production studios moving towards more connected, IP-based workflows, this camera will feature SMPTE2110 compatibility. This will enable more streamlined connection to the KAIROS IT/IP platform, which gives professionals unlimited control to deliver rich content to multiple screens and streams.

This 4K studio camera from Panasonic is equipped with a 5.7K Super 35 mm sensor and PL mount, inheriting the design concept of our VariCam camera, allowing for powerfully expressive live cinematic video closer to creator's intention with a shallow depth of field.

The camera head is fully compatible with equipment in Panasonic's 2/3-inch studio-camera system. By simply replacing the existing camera head with the AK-PLV100GSJ, cinematic video can be created with the existing CCU (AK-UCU600 or AK-HCU250).

Going forward, Panasonic Connect is committed to enhancing live video broadcasting of music and sporting events with innovative solutions for on-site production, including IP-based studio cameras for advanced production and flexible system construction.

@dpreview: studio scene results are unfair. Please reshoot G9 with Olympus 45/1.8 to have consistent comparisons across m43 cameras (I compared with GX8, Pen-F, M1 mk2)! Or have option to select lens in comparison tool.

Yeah I read that this morning, but looking at these studio tests I think I'd give it to the G9 by a whisker. It's not really enough to sweat over either way - the xt2 bests both by half to two thirds of a stop as you might expect. I'm a MfT user and I don't really see so much of an improvement over my other bodies [GX8 and EM1, 1 amongst others] to coax me into laying out so much, even if overall I think it's an appealing camera.

To support production studios moving towards more connected, IP-based workflows, the camera features SMPTE ST 2110 compatibility. This enables a more streamlined connection to the KAIROS IT/IP platform (released in May 2020).

Some of the features that make studio cameras perform well in the live production space are the CCU (camera control unit) and the B4 lens mount. The CCU serves many functions in live production, mainly allowing long-distance transmission and interfaces multiple functions in one connector rather than one cable per function. For example, the Panasonic cameras allow for intercom, return feed, power, iris, and color control, all connected from the camera's body to the CCU through a single optical cable. Both of these new cameras also utilize the same remote operation panel options: AK-HRP250GJ, AK-HRP1000GJ, AK-HRP1015GJ.

Both of these cameras utilize the same basic body style, the standard studio camera we have all come to know and love. Like most studio cameras, both the 3900 and the 3300 utilize B4 mounts and are servo zoom lenses. This means there is a small servo motor driving the zoom function of the lens, which allows for far smoother zoom compared to the manual zoom found in photography or cinema lenses. This makes servo lenses great for volunteer-driven teams. The variable-speed servo studio controls are intuitive; it's the video equivalent of a gas pedal and is another reason these cameras are an excellent option for live production.

Video and Data Transmission Functions (Trunk)
Video and data can be transmitted between camera and a CCU (camera control unit) using an optical fiber cable. This allows you to match system expansion to operation conditions.
HD-SDI (CCU camera) two lines, VBS (CCU camera) two lines: Can be used for monitoring with prompter or camera (studio floor monitor), etc.
HD-SDI (camera CCU) one line: This line can be used to transmit an additional video signal of a handheld or remote camera to the studio. Since the camera video input is equipped with a frame synchronizer, asynchronous video signals can also be used.
LAN (1000BaseT) one line: To be used to control external devices and remote cameras by IP protocol. Transmission of streaming video is also supported.
DATA (RS422A or RS232C) two lines: Can be used to transfer lens and pedestal position data in a virtual system.

The Panasonic AK-HRP200 remote control panel allows you to remotely control and configure Panasonic studio, PTZ cameras, plus more. It is equipped with a joystick that provides precise, fast, and complete control of the settings of each camera. It also offers the possibility of storing settings on an SD card and carrying out updates.
Available only in used condition, the HRP200 is fully serviced by our technical lab and covered by a 3-month warranty.

The AK-UC4000 camera offers the high video quality that is only possible with a large sensor, along with a wide range of 4K acquisition with the latest functions such as HDR, BT.2020 and high-speed shooting. The camera keeps up with diversifying systems with features such as 12G-SDI, TICO over SDI (4K over 3G-SDI) output, and MoIP, making it suitable not only for studio production but for a wide range of operations such as sports and live events.
