Nowmy Wifi-card is only "Half"-broken and I cant connect to 5ghz networks although all my other devices are working perfectly fine with the 5Ghz network (2 apple TVs, 2 other computers, 2 cellphones and a gaming console.)

I can see the 5ghz networks but i am unable to connect to them. When i try to connect to 5ghz network (Both main router and extender) i type in my password and it load for a while on "Checks network requirements" until it says "unable to connect to network".

It's possible that your PC was moving between 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz wireless, and you weren't aware of it. The switching would likely be unnoticeable unless you were doing something bandwidth intensive. The point is that Windows could have been changing connections and you weren't the wiser.

I have read what you have written. The wireless passwords are not tied to any particular wireless adapter. So removing and/or uninstalling a wireless adapter does not remove the password for an SSID. Those are not bound to a specific adapter. You could just as easily disabled or removed an adapter, put in another adapter, and Windows will still know about wireless networks you have connected to, and the password for that SSID.

In your original post, you do not reference that you used the Windows tools for Reset network. The second reference you post is a handy tool for cases where stored passwords don't match, or some network corruption is causing a problem that cannot be otherwise resolved. Reset network with the built-in reboot does indeed remove SSID passwords. You didn't write that you had done that. You wrote that you removed/uninstalled a network driver. Uninstalling or installing a wireless adapter does nothing with saved wireless connections and passwords. You wrote that you had uninstalled the driver and then installed another driver. That process does not remove saved wireless passwords. You could even remove your wireless adapter, uninstall the driver for it, connect to Internet via Ethernet cable, and Windows would still have a list of your saved wireless networks.

Now on to your more pressing issue, not being able to connect to the 5 GHz network. Please use the Microsoft Store to install NetSpot. NetSpot monitors your wireless adapter and lists all the routers and access points that are received. The goal is to see if you adapter is actually receiving the signal, and if so, how the connection is reported.

My personal opinion? Always, always, always do a fresh install of the Wireless and Bluetooth drivers after doing any Windows upgrade, even a minor one (like 21H1 to 21H2). Microsoft has for years screwed this up and never learns from their mistakes (or listens to the complaints?).

The 2.4Ghz connection is consistent and quite stable except for certain areas of the house where a 5Ghz signal would be optimal. I have a fibre optics plan and have been extremely frustrated by this driver induced bottleneck. When connecting over WiFi, my other mobile devices easily reach speeds of just over 300 mb/s whereas my Macbook does not even reach 100 mb/s in the same locations.

Please can somebody point me to the correct driver so I can enjoy the speeds I've paid for. I've read every guide I could find and have tried uninstalling and reinstalling sooo many Broadcom drivers to no avail (though this DID cause the name of the device in device manager to change to "...Full Dongle Adapter #8" at one point though now it's "#3"??; might need some help with cleaning up the registry as reinstalling does not fix this naming convention).

None of the drivers I've tried have the supposed "5Ghz preferred band" setting in advanced properties. I've tweaked and tweaked and tweaked settings of several different Broadcom drivers but have experienced no change other than at one point not being able to see my network at all!

Ah, for W7 the drivers are in Install Windows 7 on your Mac using Boot Camp - Apple Support. You mention 2015 Mac, but 2015 Macs do not support W7. Can you verify the year/model of your Mac (do not post the serial number)?

I tried your suggestion of verifying the original drivers but it seems like the assistant isn't properly set up? I can't proceed when I press continue and the action does not say "download and check Bootcamp..." but only "download support software". I've attached 2 screenshots below.

As an aside, thank you very much for your help Loner T! I feel almost honoured lol, since out of the countless guides and forum posts I've read, I remember your name quite distinctly! I hope we can solve this annoying problem.

Anyhow, what's the next step? Below is the prompt from installing the one that was working on 2.4Ghz. Does the slight difference in the name between all these drivers mean anything (ie the emphasis on "Wireless PCIE Full Dongle Adapter" for the one that does work)?

Downloaded the package, uninstalled all Broadcom drivers (including bluetooth ones), checked for any remaining files but found none. Uninstalled the network controller from device manager and tried running the exes in the package.

Wayy more options to fiddle with but not sure if it actually does something. These additional settings have been permanently incorporated even when closing and re-opening properties from device manager.

I just downloaded both Acrylic and Wireshark. Don't really know how to use either nor what I'm looking for but it seems I need a license to access Monitor Mode in Acrylic for beacon info. Still, this is what I could see.

What's weird is that when I first booted into MacOS and ran a speedtest, I was getting about the same but slightly worse than Windows! Also got the same socket error a couple times. Turning off the wifi and turning it back on again on my mac fixed the problem immediately and within seconds I had increased my speed about 7 times.

It was quite tricky to get up and running but I have indeed managed to install Windows 7 on my Macbook Pro 2015. I needed it specifically for some nit picky business applications (compatibility issues with Windows 10). It was a painful process but was ultimately worth it.

Run BC Assistant -> Action -> Download and use a USB2 flash drive to download the BC drivers package for W10. Look in the Drivers -> Broadcom folder. We need to check what is available before we decide the next steps.

So basically, I have the Intel AX201 network driver as stated in the title, I use the 2.4ghz mainly and have a good connection with it but it's obvious that the 5ghz will be much faster, I have tried some solutions but none have worked and was wondering if anyone can help me on this issue.

I use Windows 11 Home as well, I can connect to the 5ghz sometimes for example i can shut off and turn on my laptop and boom I will be randomly connected to the 5G and it works as expected but sometimes I simply cant connect so I know my device is 5ghz capable but I am unsure why it keeps rotating from 2.4ghz only then to being able to connect to the 5ghz.

Since we tried using the OEM driver and the issue persists, we can try and do a clean installation of the wireless adapter installing the latest driver from Intel. Keep in mind that installing this Intel generic graphics driver will overwrite any customized driver from the OEM. The steps for the clean installation of the wireless driver are the following:

Regarding the information you mentioned, I noticed that you are using the latest Intel driver, however, keep in mind that this driver is considered a generic driver, and the best thing to do is to use the drivers provided by the system manufacturer (OEM) to eliminate the potential impact caused by loading non-custom drivers. My recommendation is to install the latest OEM driver available, which is version 22.100.0.3, you can install the driver file on the Dell Website for your unit ( -us/product-support/product/g-series-15-5511-laptop/drivers)

I run windows 10 in bootcamp in a Mac DESKTOP-RJL2EN3 (Mac OS is Big Sur). 5G WIFI is undetected! I have to use 2G. Called Microsoft with no solution. Microsoft said the listed driver in network adapter in windows device management is 802.11h which dose not support 5G in a bootcamp environment. Need a 5G driver, best is 802.11n. Tried to download a driver from Intel but can not install because it is not compatible. can anyone help? Please forgive me for a layman's language. I really don't know how to describe in right terms.

Although I don't understand you fully, I believe you are right. Can you please suggest any solutions for this problem? Windows customer service also said the driver version is incorrect but they don't know how to correct. Please help. thank you

Hi thank you Loner T. Below is what i see under SETTING. It appears so different from what you showed. How should I proceed? is it possible you can remote guide me? it seems beyond my expertise to fix this problem without step by step instruction.
