Is there a reason why i cannot find an alliance in maps all i get is search failed??

You've put in a space...

alliance: xxx

It should have no spaces...

alliance:xxx

If the alliance name has a space in it, you have to use quotes...

alliance:"xxx"

Type in a few letters in the search, then wait a few secs to see suggestions to see what it should look like.
