Pls. be reminded again that the last day of the radio licensing amnesty set by NTC is up to end of December 2010. Starting January next year, they will be implementing strict compliance among radio users. Please see attachements which include licensing rates.
We had a meeting with NTC here last week asking them to extend deadline even after the Sinulog on January 16, 2010. As per Regional Director, this is a national memorandum which is difficult to revise. And besides, the amnesty was offered since early 2009 but only few responded. This time they want to be fair with those who obtain permits.
Unlicensed operators will soon be endangered to radio confiscations. At present, only about half of the 940 members are licensed. We will be facing shortage of radio holders
on the Sinulog period since we will only allow members with licenses to operate to avoid problems with NTC. As per NTC, Sinulog is the best time to conduct confiscation drives to encourage everyone here in Cebu to comply beforehand. Most groups want to have a part in the Sinulog 95's. Cebu has more than 28 radio clubs and only few have obtained permits.
This is not just a 940 concern, but this will involve the whole of Kabalikat Civicom since we are primarily a radio organization. Please relay this info and encourage everyone to get a license. Thank you.
940-01
P.S. - Kabalikat 940 is the official communications group of the Sto. Nino Basilica. It is our group who will work with them during the fluvial parade, Translacion, Walk for Mary, and the Final Procession of the Sto. Nino. On the Mardigra day, 940 will man one of the busiest sectors. GMA's activities will be heavier also during these periods. Sustaining operations, 5 days
straight like these, is usually physically & financially draining. Although tired, everybody are usually contended and fulfilled at the end of the day.
