Newcomer to gaida and Gela

Hi everybody,

I am spending a few days at a friends' in Starsevo, first time in the Rhodopes and I love it. He's going away on friday and I'm staying a little longer to attend Gela. I was wondering if some of the english speakers here were also going, or knew people, so as to meet up !

I'm also very happy that I just got myself my first set of pipes from Hristo Topchiev in Smolyan, but even though I have a bit of bagpipe experience on my own I'm surprised that I can't seem to produce a proper sounding scale with the chanter. I would be glad to meet someone who could play on it and show me the problem comes from me, not the instrument ! The master himself was not able to demonstrate his pipes properly due to pain to his arm, so I'm wondering.

Well, I guess it won't be difficult to find someone to play on it, but english is a plus..:)

Last thing, I'd like to enjoy the evening and rather not come back to Starsevo on Saturday night since it's a bit far. I don't know if the fires and all go until the morning but if not I have only light sleeping gear. That would be great if anyone had tips on where to spend the night (obviously not the hotel, I travel cheap to afford instruments :D)

I'll be there. Give me a message when you arrive and we'll take a look into the bagpipe.

Finding shelter is a difficult task there. There could be fires till the morning, but I cannot guarantee. Sleeping in a bag outside could be risky due to the heavy rains these days.

And many thanks for your answer ! You can expect a message from me on saturday, I have a bulgarian number.

So far the forecast are pretty reassuring for the night. If I can't find anything better I'll cross fingers so that it stays dry and free of lightnings. I'm really excited to come !
