amsq mode & squelch

Is anyone able to get amsq mode working?  I tried receiving CB using am mode and that works fine.  I observed the SNR for various stations and then I changed it to amsq.  I've varied the squelch thresholds to varying levels and I'll only occasionally have a station break the squelch.

Also, I'm assuming there is no SSB squelch, correct?  I suspect it would be difficult without a carrier and setting power levels for hundreds of frequencies rather challenging.
