Google provides the following optios on who can join:

• Anyone can join
• People have to be invited
• People can request an invitation to join

and right now we allow anyone to join.

I responded to Maki Park before I saw yours.

I think it is absolutely necessary that you approve before people are
allowed in. The consequences of not doing so are not difficult to imagine.
Some people will make unpalatable postings, some will use fictitious names
and addresses to further whatever agenda they may have.

The question is: who will be held accountable?

Allowing in  Alumnni only will not only encourage responsible postings but
will also ensure accountability.

I wish you had responded to me through the group. For the reason however
that you have written me directly, I have also responded direclty to you,
but I would have loved to hear the others' views on this.

Perhaps you will consider forwarding both mails to the group?

Hi Herbert,

 

I would go with the 3rd option. People should request for an invite to join. You should have the right of acceptance of such a request - more like a moderator with clear criteria for acceptance key one being KA Alumni.
