Hi all, sorry i haven't been around much in last few weeks, i just
been bust with with some family stuff.

I've been messing with dydns and realized that it would the best
solution to host our own site, I would host it my self , using port
forwarding on my router. I always want to build my own box so i was
thinking of using a mini itx broad with atom chip,4gb RAM and a 500gb
hard drive it be on 24/7 , . It will run both a HTTP server which
will host our web it maybe a custom worpress blog. It will also bea
ssh sever so each member can have their own shell account. So what
distor should I user was thinking of installing Ubuntu, Debian,
Fedora, or may even BSD what do think?

Hey,

I would suggest its a better idea to host it externally on the basis that someone's home connection is likely to have a slow upload speed and depending on the number of images (or other media) on the site then the site could become very slow to load. You can get a VPS fairly cheaply, (especially if a few people are willing to chip in on the basis they will get shell accounts) and that would have plenty of storage and bandwidth which I think would be an important asset. However, this is only my opinion/suggestion and I would of course be completely happy to go with what the group decide. :)

Thanks,
Ben
