PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — A 35-year-old Philadelphia man has been sentenced to nearly 22 years in prison for sex trafficking young vulnerable women.
The prosecutor says two of the victims were 18, and the youngest was just 16-years-old when she was lured in.
Rahim McIntyre was convicted of sex trafficking by force or coercion. The three victims forced into prostitution testified at trial they were beaten. They said they saw other victims beaten by McIntyre as well.
Prosecutor Michelle Morgan told the court McIntyre and others who might commit such crimes must be deterred.
“It is probably difficult for any of us to assess the type of damage that it does to a human soul to go through that type of experience,” she said, “and what it does to one’s self-esteem and sense of self-worth.”
In a letter to the court, one victim said she’s been changed for the good and for the worse.
Good, in that she says she’s become stronger. The bad – she hates herself for this whole thing
