Google Docs Sharing Best Practices (with students and teachers)

We are starting to roll out Google Apps to our students and I am wondering what you have found as the best way to share documents between teachers and students. I was thinking about having students create a folder and share that folder with the teacher, then also have the teacher create a folder for the class and drag all of the students shared folders into it. What does everyone else do?
