Moving images from Drive's "Google Photos" folder to Team Drives

So I created a Team Drive for every class. 2018, 2019, etc. I added teachers as members of these Team Drives in hopes they would put photos and videos within. Each year I'd re-assign membership to the next set of teachers. After 12 years, the yearbook committee should have a plethora of imagery to work with.

So teachers are really getting after this, BUT I think I've found a snag. It seems that images stored in the Drive > Google Photos folder (that have automatically come over from Photos) are not able to be moved to Team Drives. I'm guessing it's because they're linked back to the images in Photos, and moving them to a Team Drive mucks up ownership?

Can anyone else confirm this behavior?

If that is indeed the case, do you have any great ideas for getting these images into Drive for moving into a Team Drive? I suppose downloading batches to your desktop, unzipping them, and then dragging to the Team Drive would be the ticket, but I'm hoping there's something easier.
