Has anyone had the pleasure of setting of a Ricoh Pro907EX for scan to email?  We use the GAFE email and I can't seem to get the settings correct.  We recently migrated to GAFE from Exchange and this is the only thing left on my to-do list before I can completely disable exchange.
Thank you for any assistance.

make a seperate Gmail account for each copier
use the directions here

If your scanner still won't run of aspmx, you may need to set up an smtp relay.
you want to set an email per scanner so you don't hit email limits.

Ricoh/Lanier units do not support secure SMTP (or the ones we purchased 10 months ago do not at any rate), so they will not work with Gmail. We had to set up copier accounts on a free Dreamhost account the school also has (thanks for the tip Bernie!). Our Sharp copiers support secure SMTP/SMTP over SSL and therefore could be used with Gmail.

I have other devices that don't use secure smtp sending directly to Gmail: http://support.google.com/a/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=176600  I recommend you configure your firewall to only allow specific internal ips to aspmx.l.google.com over port 25.

-----
If your device or application does not support SSL, connect to aspmx.l.google.com on port 25.

You must configure an SPF record for your domain with the IP address of the device or application to ensure that recipients do not reject mail sent from it. You must also add this IP address to the Email Whitelist box in your Google Admin console. For example. if your sending device sends from 123.45.67.89, add that address to your SPF record without removing the Google Apps mail servers from the record:

v=spf1 ip4:123.45.67.89 include:_spf.google.com ~all

You can just use 'aspmx.l.google.com' as the mail server and choose no security/no logon.  This will work if the copier does not require secure SMTP.

All my best,
Matthew

I run my traffic through stunnel and it allows a port 25 only copier to connect to my secure only Gmail.

Been using this for 3 years... Works great!  Be sure to setup an account to use it on.

Good old stunnel

I want to thank everyone for their replies, I honestly could not have done this without your help.  Here is what worked perfectly for me:

Installed stunnel on a local file server with the following settings in the config:
cert = stunnel.pem
socket = l:TCP_NODELAY=1
socket = r:TCP_NODELAY=1
client = yes
[pop3s]
accept  = 110
connect = pop.gmail.com:995
[imaps]
accept  = 143
connect = imap.gmail.com:993
[ssmtp]
accept  = 25
connect = smtp.gmail.com:465

In the printer configuration, I used the email and password I set up for the printer.
    SMTP Server Name     :     ip address of server that I loaded up stunnel
    SMTP Port No.           :        25
    SMTP Authentication     :     On
    SMTP Auth. E-mail Address     :   printer/at/ourdomainhere.org
    SMTP Auth. Encryption     :     Auto Select
