We are going 1 to 1 next year with 700+ chromebooks for two grade levels and we are looking to do a password reset portal through Active Directory.
We use GAPS (Google Apps Password Sync) to sync passwords to Google.  We also would like to use the same portal for our current windows users as well but the primary purpose is for students to be able to reset their passwords offsite and during off hours.

Does anyone have any recommendations?

Thanks,

We are going 1:1 chromebooks next year 7-12.  I'm taking active directory out all together for the students.  I will be using clever.com to sync our SIS to GAFE.

We have been Google Apps 6-12 for 4 years. I stopped entering student accounts in AD and use Google. We have been using Smoothwall for our content filter because they can use both AD (for teachers) and Google for students to authenticate for internet access. However, next year we will me going Chromebooks to all students 6-12 and we are wanting to filter off-site also. Currently Smoothwall does not offer that but I have been in contact with their CTO and they are actively pursuing it.

Another option I am looking at is Securly.com because they already have a plugin for Google Authentication and Chromebooks.

Does anyone else have any other ideas?

We have a small test going on right now with Dovestones: http://www.dovestones.com/
So far, everything is smooth.

We use AD to control access to a lot of other services on campus, and so will use GAPS to sync the AD password to GAFE.

We have been using a product from a company called Sada Data Systems for password sync from our AD server to google apps. The product is called Auth Magic.

Does this provide a self service password reset function, or does it
only do syncing?
