Flash Panel?? I've seen this come up several times. I suppose I can google it to learn more, but I'd welcome any information this group has to offer. Thanks!

Rachel,

Flash Panel is a free (for now at least) admin add on that lets you do some of the administrative functions of Google Apps in an easier-to-use format than the Google control panel, or GAM.

I signed up as I had one specific need. I'd heard through this group that Flash Panel could help you easily create a mailing Group from an Organization. I've not yet figured out how to do that. Does anyone know?

I have been able to use Flash Panel to schedule some important things. For instance, I have a weekly schedule to disable Web Clips for all users. That would be impossible to do from the Google control panel, and much less user-friendly using GAM.

I'd love to hear some of the best uses for Flash Panel. I know I'm not using it to its full potential.

Yes, there is a way to use Organizational Units to create a group.

In add to group (you have to create the group and add an owner first) you begin typing in the ou's name and it should show up (it'll have the ou name with 3 diamonds next to it). I did this for a group of all parents and it worked great.

Is FlashPanel only for google apps admins or regular users as well? Will regular users see this service in their apps or allow them to do anything? Thanks.

Users can access flash panel as a directory service.  As an admin, you can also allow users to 'self-service' their own contact information, but we disable that feature, so it's really just a directory service for users.

Regular users will see it under the 'More' link in the Gbar.

All my best,
Matthew
