My school had an awful experience with the HP Chromebook G2, we are looking to replace it with the Lenovo N21. I would welcome any comments or advice for a replacement Chromebook that this group might recommend. thank you for your advice

We purchased  150 Lenovo ThinkPad 11e Chromebooks and had very good luck with them.  They are very sturdy but do cost a little more than most chromebooks.  This year we purchased another 500 that will be distributed to students.

Thanks,

We had a very similar problem with the HP 11 G2.  I have purchased Dell's new Chromebook 11 for less than what I spent for the HP 11.  They are ruggedized and seem to be a very sturdy CB.

Thanks!

We have had great success with the Acer C720P.   The students took them back-and-forth to home all year, and more than 95% came back spotless.  The repairs on most of the rest were relatively minor.

I've also been looking closely at the Dell's for the next cycle.  They are a sturdy design with some added classroom management features such as indicator lights on the top of the case which are viewable by the teacher when the students are using them.

We've been using the Lenovo 11e Yoga for over a year now with tremendous success both from a durability and future-minded usage (adding touch and seeing that growth with Android apps and touch on Chrome). Our breakage and return rates are less than 1% after our Samsungs had a 32% breakage rate.

We are a high school district with 5,100 students total.

We had 800+ Acer C720s this year w/ 9th graders.  Warranty repairs were about 7% (OS issues primarily - SSD drives or motherboard fixes), but they were efficient turnaround times and lower in number during last three months.  Continuing with Acer (C740s) for next group of incoming freshmen.  Better hinges and slight improvements in casing.  Took a hard look at Dell, but the processor in Acer C740 and continued brand (power adapters are the same for the Acer models) kept us with the Acer.

The Acers have proven very hearty and appropriately powerful.  Many many schools have been pleased with both the touchscreen and non touch versions.

The first time they failed was within 30 days of the launch in September. We reached out in October after the Jewish holidays, and it wasn't until February that we received replacement chargers.

Once the replacement chargers were used they began to fail - first at 4 weeks and then continuously until the end of the year.

We are still within the first 12 months of the purchase, which is the warranty that they come with; we didn't purchase an additional warranty.

We have about 400 c720 and C730,  so far for us only 2 have needed warranty. We normally don't buy extended warranty with them as most of the time it's about half the price of a new one so we keep a few spares.
Having said that I am from Australia where any thing tech related has a premium price tag on it!

We found that with the right volumes you can get the rugged and excellent Dell Chromebook 11"s for under $300 with 3-year accidental damage protection included at that price point. We auditioned the Acer c720 and Dell Chromebook side by side - specs are identical but the Dells are much more sturdy, use a Dell charger, and the students liked them better for whatever their reasons were :)
