So we don't have google groups enabled but we have the coure google groups for business enabled. We have only admins can create them.

Now when I go to groups via the dashboard and try to access the settings it brings me to the new interface and says I don't have permission to access this group, even though I'm an admin. We have a lot of groups created via AD sync and I don't think anyone is an owner and they are not listed in groups list.

I'm looking around the new interface and as an admin I can't view all of the groups and I can't access the access settings for any of them. When I browse all it looks like I can only see the non-private ones.

Can I get clarifiction on this? It's great that the business groups has this new interface but seems a bit wonky. Also, are they COMBINING Google groups and Google groups four business? It looks like when I click on google groups for business it brings me to the actual Groups service, where before they acted separately.

Melissa,
I am having the exact same problem. Unless I add myself as an owner, I get an error #825 message when I go to the Access Settings tab. I am going to submit this to Google and see what they tell me.

Thanks and have a great day,

Keep us updated! This is very annoying and hard to work with groups now. Great we have a new interface now though.

Anyone have answers about the 2 google groups services merging??

My google groups hasn't changed and I can access and make changes without issue.  I'm not syncing mine with AD though.  Maybe that makes a difference.

Thanks for the information Chris. We are not syncing with AD as of now. I did submit a support ticket, so I will see what they say.

I spoke with Google about the loss of Administrator access to all
domain groups the other day. The support person told me that it was
expected behavior that domain administrators would NOT have access to
groups unless they were a member. She also indicated that their
product team was in the process of deciding whether to allow
administrator access or not, and said that she would submit a feature
request on my behalf for the access. She also asked me to make the
request again when I filled out the support survey associated with the
case.

I wonder about groups that don't have an owner setup, then who would be able to manage them?  I see I can access the group settings of the one group in my domain I am not a member or owner of.  Maybe I'm confused about the difference between groups.

Are you serious? That's ridiculous. We have tons of groups made by AD sync, (one for each school, each grade, etc.) and I have to add admin to each of them? So will I get the emails and notifications from groups if they share calendars with their groups? For instance, if Washburn Elementary school shares a Computer Lab calendar with their school via sharing it to the washburn email in calendar sharing settings, then I will get a notification for that and it'll be shared? So, I'm going to get a ton of extra notifications and be shared with so much....am I correct?

This is very annoying. I'm def going to submit a ticket/feature request.

Many of our groups don't have owners either..I guess I'll have to add admin to each.

Hm..you still have access? Maybe it's not fully rolled out to you yet?? Are you on rapid release?

I found this too and I wasn't too happy about it.  I went through and have added myself as an owner to every group within our domain just so that I can have the ability to manage them.  In most cases, I have also added another member(s) as owner and will leave the bear's share of management up to those people, but being a bit of a control freak, I feel better being able to make changes to groups from the admin level.  As far as notifications, I also set myself to receive no email on most of the groups so I wasn't getting swamped with nonsense.

I don't like it, but I guess I can live with it.

Yes, I am on rapid release, but it does appear from the attached screenshot that I have yet to switch to the new google groups.  On the bright side its the summer here so I have until August to get this clarified and working correctly.

I'm looking at the settings now...there seems to be a ton more settings. There's also a question/discussion type thing and you can filter by "resolved" and stuff...has this always been available?

Is there a way I can specify someone as "sender only" with the new settings?   There are groups like "all.2012.students" that I want teachers to be able to send to, but not receive.  Right now for me to give teacher rights to use the group they need to also receive every email.
