Alright, we are starting to research replacing our current student and staff chromebooks. What is everyone finding that they really like and are great to use with students?

we prefer larger screens and the hp 14 has worked well

These are the ones we are going with for a second year in a row

We’ve had good luck so far with Lenovo’s n21-22 and now 23.

We also use Lenovo N22 and 23s for students. We get a good deal on MAXCases, so we put those on the student Cbooks as well. Going great. I'm piloting some Samsung Chromebook Pluses for my teachers, and they're well-liked and performing well.

We have the ASUS Chromebook C202SA for students and haven't had much trouble (yet). Our administrators are using the ASUS Chromebook Flip C302CA and love it.

+1 on Lenovo N22-23. I like the built-in handle and built-in flip cam.

I've had 3 models of Samsung, but Love the ASUS c202's, plan on buying more soon.

Thinking about Google AUP (Auto Update Policy), the models that you have been discussing have all been around for bit. Do any of these models have a "renewed version" that will extend the AUP further?
We've been using the ASUS C202SA and they have been great. But it's AUP is set for Feb 2021, I don't want to buy that for the class of 2022. The Lenovo's that have been mentions have a similar AUP date.
And, yes, I know as mentioned in other threads and discussions, the AUP has not seemed to interfere with usage as yet, but I don't want to assume that will always be the case. I just want to make sure I look at all of the information before I make a decision.
I'm looking forward to the Chromebook Showcases that ILTPP is working on putting together so we can see some of the newer models, hands-on, and hopefully make some decisions that will carry us into the future.

+1 Gerry. I know it probably won't be an issue, but if there are good options that get me out past the graduation date of a class I would explore those options first.
We have Lenovo N21 and N22 models. On the topic of cameras, I'm surprised at how many kids bring devices in for repair and they have the camera turned around to face it toward the inside of our cases. I think they like the rotating camera for privacy concerns, which is an angle I didn't consider. I thought "cool! The camera turns around and you can use it to record a speech." I'm wondering how much tape I'll find over the fixed lenses if I were to buy a model with a fixed webcam.

We bought Lenovo N22's. After that experience I'll never willingly buy another Lenovo product of any kind ever again. I hope they go out of business.

We’ve had good luck so far with Lenovo’s n21-22 .

+1 Scott but i just hope that they take a very hard look at the lesson that was learned with that issue.

I'm with Scott. I'll never buy another device from Lenovo, no matter how great & cheap it seems.
As for the N22, we've had endless keyboard issues with them. Of the 100 we purchased, 43 have had keyboard failures within 18 months, with more showing up every week. The administration has quit trying to keep up with the $60/ea costs of replacement keyboards. We just pile them up to use as replacement parts for the ones that are still working.
Contrast that with our Acer c720s that we've had for four years with only two failures, neither of which were keyboards. To be fair, they cost us more up front, but still...
Others say they've had good luck with the n22, so ymmv, but my experience has soured me on the company.

We’ve got ~900 N22s. We haven’t seen a very high percentage of keyboard failures that others have. We’re going with N23s next year and excited that the chargers are the same. It’s a pain that our N21s are a different charger.

Lenovo did finally pony up and send us replacement keyboards. This was after we got the good advice to pressure them through CDWG who sold them to us. I think they don't want to lose face with someone as big as CDWG.
They've sent me 45 keyboards so far at no charge, but it took some legwork and luck to get them to admit the issue and take corrective action.

+1 on the N22s and Lenovo. Just this hour a student brought in one with the keyboard issue. This makes number 27 out of 50 purchased in the summer of 2016.

Must be the batches. We also purchased Acer 720s - I thing about 500 in all. We are now at close to a 40% mainboard failure rate on those devices; I will never purchase another Acer.
We are now working with CTL. They have been pretty good to deal with so far. I guess you never know.

We plan to provide Chrome devices for many of our teaching staff next fall (going from Macbooks or iMacs). There are some nice Chromebase options for those opting for a desktop model, but we're not sure what is great out there for higher-end, flip-screen touch Chromebooks. All seem to have just 11" screens. Are there any larger than that?Just curious what you all have tried in the high-end, flip-screen touch Chromebook world? Is the flippable screen even worth it? Maybe not if 11" is the biggest it can be.
