I have never done anything like this before...is there an easy way to migrate a school from  GoDaddy email accounts to a GAFE email account? Is there a special tool? Anyplace I can find tutorials or guidance?

Thanks in advance for your sage wisdom

I don't know anything about GoDaddy, do they offer IMAP connections? If so, you can probably do it pretty easily (relatively speaking)

We did it 2 years ago but I didn't transfer any mail.  I just created new accounts for everyone in the gmail domain, did all of our training and then just updated our domain MX records to google so mail started flowing to Gmail.

GoDaddy was only giving our users 100mb of online storage so everyone had their mail locally in either outlook PST or Entourage MBOX. We gave them instructions on connecting from either client via IMAP if they wanted to import their 'local' mail up to their new Gmail box, but very few actually did that. Most enjoyed the chance to start clean while still having access to their old mail locally if they needed it.

Hi Anne

I'm doing the exact same thing for a catholic school right now and we're not going to migrate the mail. The staff are actually preferring to start from scratch with a clean account in GAFE. They will print, save, export any important messages they feel they need from their old accounts. However, if you absolutely need to migrate the mail, Hank's suggestion of using IMAP is probably the best option.
