Good Afternoon!

Our School is planning on pulling all of the devices back for the summer and redistribute them back after break. We had some carts made to store all of the devices over the summer in a secure location, there are 3 carts that hold 140 devices, we use alexandria for asset management for the chromebooks. Are you letting your students keep the devices over the summer? Here is our process:

The idea for the process is as follows:

  • Communicate with the principal a month ahead of time to establish a schedule for turn-in

  • Communicate with chromebook teachers that the students must bring their chargers

  • Label Chromebook carts A - I , J - Q, R-Z

  • Media Center Tables are prepared with a checklist Document and Pencils

  • Classrooms come down to the Media Center as scheduled with their devices/chargers

  • Students are released by their last name initial to have their devices scanned into alexandria

  • After the device is scanned, chromebooks, chargers, cases and sheets are placed on a shelf in the proper cart based on their Last Name, A person will need to over-see this or handle the devices

  • The next group gets released.

  • After all devices are turned in, run an alexandria report and see who hasn’t turned in their device, supply Principal with the list so we can reconcile the missing devices.

  • Account for the loaners, fill out a sheet for each of them

  • At a minimum, each technician should take a cart and process the chromebooks for damages, report any vandalism/missing chargers to the principal, process broken devices for insurance claims processing if necessary.

  • If there are missing chargers Make a note of it, and follow up with building principal.

  • Reconcile the missing devices.

  • If there is damage on the chromebook, place a piece of masking tape over the area to make it stand-out.

Here is the sheet the students have to fill out, this stays with their device until next year so we can easily identify their chromebook in the cart.
