Hello all,

We're looking at Spanning Backup vs. Backupify as a backup solution for our pilot project of Google Apps within our school district.  Does anyone have a preference toward either one or have pluses or minuses in their experiences regarding either one?  Since the MailMeter Cloud product became vaporware yesterday, we are scrambling for a new solution.  As always, all thoughts are welcome!

We signed up for Spanning this week.  It's working great so far!  The UI is very easy to understand

My client and I choose Backupify because it let us meet all of our
backup objectives:
1. Backup and recovery for all administrator, teachers and students
with its .edu storage-based pricing - significantly less than the
$22.50
2. Meet compliance standards: admin sets backups (can't be altered by
end user), ability to search through archives for interactions by
specific individuals, and local download to export any data.
3. Ease of use; admin or end user can easily search and replace
missing data or full accounts with the click of the mouse.
4. Flexible retention period, could set different retention periods
for teachers and students.

I've tried both, and definitely give Spanning the nod over Backupify (check out my review below):

The granular recovery and superior interface of Spanning more than makes up for the sole downside of emailed file recovery.

Hi there,

We're currently trying to decide between Backupify and Spanning. Would you still recommend Spanning? My biggest complaint is the compressed files received via email. I'm having issues opening them. Backupify allows me to download directly from their control panel. However, the folder structure recovery in Drive is a big plus. Any thoughts would be helpful.

Thanks,

Here's a comparison sheet a Spanning rep sent me.  I think Spanning is also less expensive, but I'm not sure of the Backupify EDU pricing.  SPanning EDU pricing is $22.50/user/year

All my best,
Matthew
