Hello,

I took a look around and am probably missing discussion about this and apologies if I'm missing the obvious, but has anyone come across a method of "automating" student account creation - preferably from a regularly scheduled file from their SIS or ?  If so, can you share please?

Thank you!

You can link your GAFE to your Windows Active Directory if that helps.

I created a sheet template that works with GAM (command-line tool for managing GAFE) that helps with user creation.

I've written a script to generate usernames and passwords (with the format year+first name+last initial - 13da...@domain.org) given a list of first and last names. I run the script per class on different sheets, then I download as a csv and upload to Google. The script can be changed to fit your needs, if this is at all helpful. (Note: you'll have to be signed in to Google for the script ("Generate") to show up and to get to the script editor).

You can use Google Apps Directory Sync (GADS) (this works for Active Director or any LDAP)
http://support.google.com/a/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=106368

If you want to sync passwords from active directory to GAFE, you can also use Google Apps Password Sync (GAPS)
