We're starting a small project (50-75 tasks) -- and it would be good to have a tool where we can collaborate versus having one of us keep an MS Project file updated and distributing it.

Have any of you used any of the google marketplace project management tools -- could you recommend any of them.

This is a relatively small project.  We mainly need tasks, dependencies, a gantt chart and perhaps some attached documents (deliverables).  We don't need billing or time tracking capabilities.

While it would be great to have a free tool---a low cost tool could work for us too especially if the quality is higher than the free tool.

I can't say much about it myself, since I don't use it, but some of my colleagues use Basecamp ... It integrates with GA and I turned it on for them.  They seem to be happy.

I've used Basecamp for several projects in the past and really liked it.  It's been some time since I've looked at it though.  The GA integration is a nice addition, that's for sure.

Licensing costs can get steep for some of these tools, depending on the number of team members using the product.

Dot project is a nice free one if you can host your own instance.

Personally, I would recommend Zoho Project. It is in the GAFE app store, and the first project is free and scales from there. I have used it for ears to run my technology staff and summer replenishing projects.

I'm a big fan of Basecamp, which I have used for about four years solid.  It has great collaboration tools, GAE and Dropbox integration, and really makes it easy for you to fold in collaborators.
