Chromebook Touchpads

I'm wondering if anyone has the Dell 3180 Chromebooks with issues of the cursor freezing on the screen or disappearing all together. I'm specifying the Dell because the Acer Chromebooks we have are not having this issue.

For the past year and a half I've been able to reseat the ribbon to the motherboard and this fixed the issue. All of a sudden this week after trying reseating the ribbon, replacing the ribbon and replacing the trackpad, once the Chromebook is logged back into, after a short time, the cursor freezes again and doesn't start working without a restart. Sometimes the restart doesn't work either.

We have run into issues with the 3180 and touchpads,  What we have found that usually corrects the issue is adding a piece of duct tape over the ribbon cable where it connects to the touchpad.  The extra thickness seems to hold the cable in place better.
