Dear Ms. Benson--
I hope you are the right person to whom I should direct this. If not, please forward.
I am concerned about Google's new privacy policy. I know the school is now using Gmail, and I  wonder how much data mining is going on with our students. I noticed when I log in to the Google search screen, it has my daughter's school email address at the top. Has St Francis HS researched the new Google privacy policy? How will it affect our daughter's email accounts? Is Google gathering too much information on our students? Will they sell profiles to their advertisers?

I would appreciate it if the St. Francis technology administrators would address these issues for parents.
Thank you for your attention to this.

Lori,

Google Apps for Education, Government, and Business accounts will not be immediately affected by the change in Google's privacy policy. Google Enterprise VP Amit Singh is quoted in a recent Ars Technica article saying, "Enterprise customers using Google Apps for Government, Business, or Education have individual contracts that define how we handle and store their data" [http://goo.gl/kSCXh].
