I have people that are concerned with saving there confidential student information on Google Drive. Besides the obvious things like securing your computer and password, is there anything else they should be concerned with? Some of them use flash drives now and i rather them not.

I've found that it is an aversion to cloud technology and/or not being able to "see" where their data is. It's an secure as anything else out there - good password, etc.

Concerning security in Google Apps, Henry Thiele has a very nice presentation on this topic.  You can access it here: http://goo.gl/nwYc4

Google Drive is MUCH more secure than any flash drive. The only barrier to good security is a weak password. But Google Drive can't be forgotten in a computer lab, can't be lost, and if third-party access is gained, it can be taken back relatively easily - UNLIKE with a flash drive.

Just my two cents. We're educating people on the pitfalls of flash drives all the time.

Your points resonate crystal clear with me. We have 5GB storage and infinite when converting docs to Google Apps, which is unmatched as far as I know. I did read how Microsoft is offering 7GB of storage, which beats 5 GB. But nothing beats unlimited storage for FREE.
