We recently created gmail accounts for all our students grades 7-12; it seems that at random students are unable to access the gmail homepage--though they are able to access www.google.com, but when they click sign-in, they receive the same error message:

* Safari can't open the page: "https://www.google.com/accounts/ServiceLogin?..." because Safari can't establish a secure connection to the server "www.google.com"

Any ideas? Thanks!

Sincerely,

Hi Adam,

Is Parental Controls turned on?  I've seen this error message for the Google Apps sign-in page when Parental Controls is activated for an account on a Mac running 10.5.x or 10.6.x.

If that's the case, go to the Web tab of Parental Controls and choose "Allow unrestricted access to websites" ... or configure one of the other settings manually.

Note that in 10.6.x, when Parental Controls are applied to an account, the "Try to limit access to adult websites automatically" is set by default (and this likes to block GA).  This was a change from 10.5.x where the default was "Allow..." .

I'm not sure how this has changed in 10.7, but I'll bet it's similar to 10.6 .

Joel
