Help with Blogger

to Google Apps K12 Technical Forum

I have a blogger blog started (http://jpstechnology.blogspot.com/) and would like to allow viewers to "follow by email".

The gadget "Follow by email" seems like the choice, but I am unable to get it to work. I am able to add it to the blog, but when I enter an email address and submit, I get a 404 Not found error.

Any suggestions for using blogger and allowing viewers to automatically receive an email when something new is posted?

Some further discovery on the Follow by Email, 404 error issue:

Eric was able to subscribe without issue. Very interesting. This got me thinking. Here is what I did:

I launched a different browser (Chrome)
Went to the blog page
Entered the email info
Got the captcha page

Hmmm. Thought some more.

So, further testing:

Back to my original browser (Safari)
Logged out of my Google Apps account
Went to the blog page
Entered the email info
Got the captcha page

Even more testing:

Back to Chrome
Logged into Google Apps account
Went to blog page
Entered the email info
Got a 404 Error

So here is my summary: you cannot use the Follow By Email gadget to subscribe via email if you are logged into your Google Apps account. I even tried subscribing with a non-gmail email address. Didn't matter. Can't be logged in to Google Apps and subscribe.

So, on with some more testing.

Once you enter the captcha, you will receive an email to confirm
If you click on the confirm link in your email, you will get a 404 error. That is because the page is trying to open while you are logged in to your Google account.
To make the link work to confirm, copy the link from you email.
Log out of Google Apps
Enter the copied link into the address field and hit return
You should now be able to confirm the Feedburner email and you will now be subscribed.

Yikes! What a "not smooth" process.

Another item: tried using the Followers gadget. It requires Google Friend Connect, which is not available in GAFE. Rats!
