The 4th annual ICT for Development forum, eINDIA2008 (http://
www.eindia.net.in/2008/) will meet at New Delhi, India, between the 29
- 31 July, 2008. The event is being organised by Centre for Science,
Development and Media Studies (CSDMS) in collaboration with the
Department of IT, Ministry of Communications and Information and
Technology, Government of India and UN Global Alliance for ICT and
Development.

eINDIA2008 aims to examine the myriad challenges which appear in
integrating ICTs with different spheres of life, to share and work
together, to analyse and assess, as well as to work towards realising
a technology enabled knowledge society. The three-day forum aims to
render active conferencing, networking and showcasing, while
organising seven seminal tracks – egov INDIA, Digital Learning INDIA,
Indian Telecentre Forum, eHealth India, mServe India, eAgriculture
India and MunicipalIT.

Being a premier event on ICT4D with an international perspective, the
event expects to bring together many high level representatives from
the ICT industry, government, civil society, academia and private
sector. This event is an attempt to share best practices for
development and to discuss and exchange knowledge and ideas that will
shape future of the global ICT development and application.

The eAgriculture track of the eINDIA2008 event aims to create new
linkages and strengthen existing bonds among the various stakeholders
and enhance their capacity to find working solutions to the issues
being faced by farming communities around the world. The conference
also aims to identify the areas that need more attention and to devise
more suitable methods of including the information have-nots into the
knowledge revolution that this initiative would bring about.

e-Agriculture track of the eIndia2008 is a programme that is designed
to:

1. initiate inter-sectoral linkages
2. bring development professionals, policy decision-makers, community
stakeholders, entrepreneurs and financing professionals on the same
dais.
3. provide more vistas of opportunity for partnership building,
development re-organisation and capacity enhancement for the rural
stakeholders.
4. facilitate progressive decision-making, information sharing and
performance improvement.
5. aid the process of identification and vertical integration of
diverse ICT tools that are employed in present day agricultural
practices.
