Place a third parallel line between two parallel lines. For any
fourth, non-parallel line, the two segments formed where this line
is cut by the parallel lines always have the same ratio. This is
a good way to divide some given length into a given ratio; say 1/3:
length(BC) = 1/3 of length(AC)

line 3 -----------B------------------------B--------------------

line 2 -----A------------------A--------------------------------
