Can someone give me the formula for the reaction when vinegar and baking soda
are mixed. For 5th grade science project.

CH3COOH(aq) + NaHCO3(s) -----> CO2(g) + CH3COONa(aq) + H2O(l)

This is the _balanced_ chemical reaction.

In case you don't already know:
s = solid
aq = aqueous (in solution with water as the solvent)
l = liquid
g = gaseous
