Since most online systems (especially the commercial ones) bill themselves
as massive homework helplines, I was wondering if anyone has some tips
for parents and kids K-8 interested in using them for homework help. What
are the services good for? What are they not good for? How do you get your
child involved? When? For what? What should the role of the parent be?

I'm looking to work up a list of dos and don'ts (one for parents, one for
students) for K-8 online homework help. Replies can be posted here or to my
e-mail box jo...@soc.umass.edu. I'll re-post info if there is interest.

Thanks.

What a great idea! I (and many other teachers and parents) would be
very interested in your final product. Sometimes the internet seems
like one big wall of graffiti, especially to the novice user. There
are lots of promises about the treasures awaiting in the internet, but
the maps are hard to follow and the treasures many times turn out to
be red herrings (oops! did I mix metaphors?--well, you get my
drift.). Please keep this usegroup posted and the LM_NET, a listserv
for school media specialists, would be interested, too.

Good luck in this pursuit.

Homework is the task given to the students given by the teachers to be completed mostly outside of the class, to improve the skills of the students. Sometomes problems are so tuff to do alone in that case online sites help the students, as acropolismentors do this.
