Scanning this conference, I just happened to see your message concerning CNN Newsroom. It sounds interesting but living here in Taiwan I don't think we can participate. (If you have any information concerning its use overseas I'd appreciate it.)

However, the words Bozeman, MT caught my attention. My wife grew up in Missoula (I'm a transplant from WI) and we return to Montana every summer. I have been hoping to find someone who might be able to provide me with any information concerning BBSes around MT in hopes of establishing some contacts. Any information you can provide would be appreciated.

Living here in the crowded surroundings of Taipei, we certainly miss the "Big Sky" views.

Hi Jeff, Saw your note inquiring about Montana BBSs. In case you haven't
seen it, Here's the excerpt from the latest K12net global members list:
*Montana
Silver Bow BBS Butte 406-723-5870 1:3400/4
Tiny Sky BBS Dillon 406-683-7696 1:3400/3
The Russell Country BBS Hobson 406-423-5433 1:3400/7
Pioneer Telegraph Miles City 406-232-4602 1:3400/14

Hope you find a contact you can use. By the way, the numbers following
the modem phone numbers are Fido addresses.
I'm trying to get someone in Japan hooked into K12net. If your wife
could look into that at CA, it would be fantastic! I'll write ASIJ too,
but if she sees anyone from ASIJ at the conference, maybe she could put in
a plug. Now, how about Hong Kong? Know anyone there? A good friend just
moved to an international school there, so I'll write him and see what I
can find out. As for messages for CA, I don't think I know anyone there
any more. A good friend and classmate, Mr. Komei Go, still lives in Kobe.
He's of Formosan descent, and is taking a sabbatical (from his job as head
of the Eng. Dept at Kyoto Seika) to do some studies in Taiwan this year.
He may be interested in either telecomm or other education-oriented
discussions. Ciao for now. ...Tom

Hi! Nice to hear from you. CNN Newsroom has gone international but I am unsure about the coverage. The base is London. It's sent over the CNN new network by satellite so you might check around if you receive the station. Here the program is broadcast at 1:45 AM Montana time (4:45 AM Georgia time) over the cnn news channel. a teachers'' guide is also available but I doubt its availability overseas at this time. I'll inquire for you if you want to check back with me later. I'm on their advisory panel

so getting the info should be easy--I'll try! Montanaa has another bbs of interest to you and it's available internationally. It's based in Dillon at WMC and called big sky telegraph. Neat source. It's a unix system. Try the inet address bigsky!fra...@csn.org. Frank O'Dasz is the director. His us address is:Big Sky Telegraph, Western Montana College, Dillon, MT 59725. Modem # is 406-683-7680. He has great files. What do you teach in Taipai? I teach instructional technology courses and school me

dia courses at MSU. Keep in touch! Janis Bruwelheide (don't forget to contact me again about CNN Newsroom) I'll mail info if you want to send an address. Dept. of Education, 213 Reid Hall, MSU, Bozeman, MT 59717 Bye!
