Hi Clayton,

I don't know what this is, but it doesn't look like slime mold. Slime mold grows on wood and is bright yellow. It doesn't look like a fungus/mold of any other kind that I know either. I can't really tell if this is something living or just maybe a mineral crust. I see some parts of insects sticking out of it but I'm not sure they are involved in it, or just happen to be mixed in. I would need to see the physical sample in order to make any sort of diagnosis.

 I got this sample of what looks like a slime mold or something along those lines, but I wasn't sure. I didn't know if you knew exactly what it is.
